Lesson 15 The Sabbath is a day of Worship

Starter: We've been having a hard time getting the children Comfortable with new teacher so I'm Trying to think of fun ways to welcome the children and get them comfortable until everyone comes to class.  I'm thinking of making wipe boards with church buildings and the kids can draw people coming into the church.

Attention Activity:

Read the Old Testament Creation story from the OT 

7 paper bags with numbers on it.  Inside each day are things we do.
-Toy - Play
-Cleaning rag - work
-Garden Gloves - Yard work
-Socks - Laundry
-Book - School
-Money and Purse - Shopping
-Church - Going to church


Talk about the Children of Israel and Manna.  After telling the story act out - Have the children close their eyes and while "sleeping" scatter cereal around the room.  Then have them pick up cereal.  Then talk about  saturday spread out  twice as much cereal as the day before.  Talk about how the Israelites gathered twice as much manna on Saturday because it was so important to Heavenly Father for them to keep the Sabbath day.


Game:  Stand up/Sit down - Show pictures of people doing activities.  If it's something we do on sunday then stand up if it is not something we should do they sit down.
